Life Baptist Church began on January 4, 1981, with 48 people. We met in the St. Stephen Community Center until December of 1984. Our church was officially organized on September 19, 1982, with 21 charter members. In October of the same year, we purchased two acres of land and in August of 1983, we began construction of our church. We met in our new auditorium on December 23, 1984.with our dedication service was on February 24, 1985. Blessed with growth, we enlarged our auditorium in 1995, and renovated it in 1999. We are grateful for the adequate facilities that the Lord has provided.
We built our first fellowship hall (our present Sunday School building) in August of 1987, and used it in August of 1989 for our first wedding. Our present fellowship hall was completed and used for a wedding in June of 1997. We renovated our old fellowship hall in 1998, converting it into a Sunday School building.
In 1993, we began a daily prayer ministry and even built the hexagon-shaped building out back to house this ministry. This ministry could be our life line as prayer is an absolute necessity.Life Baptist Church is all about getting the gospel out. We send out cd‘s, preach on the radio, internet, in jails, in prisons, and in the local nursing home. We also correlate Scripture and send them out. Today we continue our primary ministry of 29 years; that is: “Holding forth the Word of Life”.
We support about 75 missionaries who carry the gospel locally and around the world. We rejoice that the sun never sets on the complete ministry of Life Baptist Church. Within our church we are blessed to have two missionary families; the Neal family and the Krontz family. The Neals serve faithfully in a local prison. The Krontz family have recently completed eight years in Bulgaria, and are seeking the Lord’s will to continue to serve Him.
We are blessed to have six preachers besides our Pastor as members of Life Baptist Church. They are Bro. Lance Neal, Bro. William Hoff, Bro. Jeff Krontz, Bro. Charles Butler, Bro. Phillip Willis, and Bro. Robbie Proffitt. Bro. Proffitt just returned from a tour in Iraq. Bro. Butler has recently started New Hope Baptist Church in Moncks Corner as an extension of our ministry here. Over the years we have trained men for the ministry thru our church.
The Lord has saved souls, added to the church and abundantly met our needs. For many years we have prayed for land adjacent to our church, and the Lord answered that prayer in 2008. We are now praying about a ministry that the Pastor has had on his heart for many years, a Rescue Mission. This ministry will start as the Lord provides.
